Alhaji (Hon.) Monsurudeen Oloyede Bello (OBE) is a transformative leader whose dedication to the development of Ejigbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) has earned him widespread respect and admiration. With a blend of professional experience, academic achievement and deep-rooted community involvement, OBE has become a beacon of progress in the LCDA. His leadership journey, which began in public service and culminated in his role as Executive Chairman, is defined by his relentless commitment to infrastructural growth, empowerment and the welfare of the people. From his early life to his achievements in governance, OBE’s vision for Ejigbo has always been clear: “Ejigbo Must Develop!”

Born on November 5, 1967, into the distinguished Akinsanya Ajaloleru family of Ejigbo Town, Lagos State, Alhaji Monsurudeen Oloyede Bello was raised in a culturally rich and close-knit environment. He is the son of Late Alhaji Nurudeen Adio Bello and Alhaja Tawakalitu Bello, who instilled in him the values of humility, hard work and service. These principles laid the foundation for his later success in both public service and politics.

OBE’s journey in education began at Ejigbo Community High School, where he developed the academic rigour that would follow him through his life. After completing his secondary education, he attended Lagos State Polytechnic and earning his National Diploma (ND) in 1994/95. His thirst for knowledge led him to further his studies at the Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti, where he graduated with a Higher National Diploma (HND) in 1998. In 2004, OBE obtained a Postgraduate Degree from the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomosho to solidify his educational credentials and prepare him for the leadership roles he would later assume.

Before venturing into politics, Alhaji Monsurudeen Oloyede Bello had a distinguished career in public service. He began his professional journey with the Lagos State Government, working in various capacities across key ministries. He served in the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure where he contributing to the development of critical projects in Lagos State. He later worked with the Lagos State Civil Service Commission before taking on the role of Executive Officer (GD) in the Ministry of Transportation.

In 2008, after years of dedicated service to the government, OBE made the bold decision to resign from the Lagos State Civil Service to pursue his passion for public service through politics. And then his political journey began when he was appointed Vice Chairman and Supervisor for Works under the administration of Hon. Kehinde Bamigbetan, the then Executive Chairman of Ejigbo LCDA. He served in this capacity between 2008 and 2014. During this period, he gained valuable experience in local governance and played a key role in various infrastructural projects that benefited the LCDA.

In 2017, OBE contested for the position of Executive Chairman of Ejigbo LCDA under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC). His vision for progress, coupled with his leadership skills, won the trust of the people, and he was elected to office on July 24, 2017. His exceptional performance during his first term led to his re-election in 2021, where he continues to lead with distinction. Since assuming office, OBE has made significant strides in transforming Ejigbo LCDA. His administration’s focus on infrastructure, education, health, security and empowerment has had a lasting impact on the LCDA. Among his numerous achievements is the renovation and remodelling of the Council Secretariat in 2018, creation of additional office spaces for staff and legislators. The ongoing construction of a modern three-storey Secretariat building is a testament to his forward-thinking approach to governance.

OBE has also prioritised road rehabilitation, including the reconstruction of Ifoshi Road, Kashimawo Alimi Road, and the Dual Carriage Way at Junction bus stop, Oke-Afa. These projects have improved mobility and infrastructure across the local council area. In the area of security, his administration has installed CCTV cameras around the Ejigbo Divisional Police Headquarters, refurbished police vehicles and donated utility vehicles to the police to enhance safety. His administration’s efforts in this sector have greatly contributed to reducing crime in the area.

In addition, OBE has focused on healthcare and education through renovation of primary health centres and construction of schools. For instance, his administration constructed a primary school at Ilamoshe Estate and renovated a Primary Health Centre (PHC) at Morning Star to make both healthcare and education accessible to all residents. His commitment to youth and women empowerment is equally noteworthy, as OBE has launched several initiatives to provide resources, training and opportunities for sustainable development.

As the first indigenous Chairman of Ejigbo LCDA, Alhaji Monsurudeen Oloyede Bello (OBE) has led with integrity, vision and a profound commitment to the development of his community. With his mantra “Ejigbo Must Develop!” guiding every decision, OBE has overseen tremendous growth in infrastructure, security and community welfare. A devout Muslim, loving husband, and dedicated father, he continues to serve the people of Ejigbo with humility and determination, leaving an indelible footprint on the sand if time.
