The organizer of the Nigerian Grassroots Leadership merit Award has announced the emergence of Hon. Abubakar Umar Mazhinyi, Executive chairman, Askira/uba local government area, Borno state as a recipient of the 2025 edition of the award in recognition of his visionary leadership in Askira/Uba local government area.
The Nigerian grassroots leadership merit award which is an annual award was instituted to celebrate and reward selfless leadership at the grassroots. The award conferment ceremony which will draw dignitaries from across the country shall be held in Abuja.
In a press release by the secretary, Nomination committee, Barr. Festus Adeboyeku said Hon. Abubakar Mazhinyi nomination was based on his exceptional performance, people-oriented initiatives and laudable projects carried out in his local government area. He noted that Hon. Abubakar who has held the position of caretaker chairman of the council before and now the executive chairman has demonstrated exemplary leadership by the level of impactful projects carried out in the council with the many human developmental initiatives in the local government area and this he said is indeed a living hope to the survival of our evolving democracy.
According to him, the award is to establish the culture of accountability and encourage the awardees to do more towards the development of Grassroots.
